Dr. Elle Elliman

Dr. Elle Elliman grew up in Montchanin, Delaware and spent most of her childhood exploring Chester County, Pennsylvania on the back of a horse. From paper chases to the pony hunter ring, she fell in love with the horse world and never looked back.

Elle graduated from the University of St Andrews in St Andrews, Scotland with a degree in Biology and then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation from PennVet, Elle was awarded the Large Animal Medicine Award and the Proficiency in Theriogenology Award.

After vet school, Elle completed an ambulatory theriogenology internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Working in the epicenter of American horse breeding, Elle learned the intricacies of equine reproductive management and became acquainted with the most current advanced reproductive techniques available for sub-fertility. She worked extensively on large thoroughbred farms, managed mares for fresh and frozen semen breeding, and oversaw the Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital embryo recipient herd. Beyond Elle’s focus on reproduction, the unparalleled caseload at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital provided her the opportunity to work with world-class veterinarians in all aspects of equine ambulatory practice.

Following her internship, Elle headed to Matamata, New Zealand to work in a busy equine private practice for a breeding season. In New Zealand she was the primary veterinarian responsible for the reproductive management, foal medicine, and yearling sales work on a large Thoroughbred breeding farm with over 300 horses. In addition, she carried out general equine ambulatory and emergency duties.

Today, Elle’s practice focuses on reproduction, foal medicine, general wellness care, and emergency work. She aims to support her clients through the entire breeding process, from conception to adulthood. Elle also truly enjoys the trials and tribulations of equine ambulatory general practice and emergency work.

Outside of work, Elle enjoys spending time with her own mare Tipsy and her yellow Labrador Gertrude.  She also loves to hike, cook, and travel.
